In October later this year, the National Portrait Gallery will host an exhibition titled 'Francis Bacon Portraits.' This significant showcase explores how Francis Bacon challenged traditional genre definitions in his portraiture. Spanning from the 1950s onwards, the exhibition aims to delve into the profound relationship between Bacon and the art of portraiture.

The showcase will feature Bacon's responses to earlier artists' portraiture, as well as present large-scale paintings that serve as memorials to lost lovers. Drawing from both private and public collections, the exhibition will provide a comprehensive glimpse into Bacon's life story.

At this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to view the artist's self-portraits, along with portraits created by Bacon of notable figures such as Lucian Freud, Isabel Rawsthorne, and the artist's lovers, Peter Lacy and George Dyer.

Other artists that will be featured include Francis Goodman, Cecil Beaton, Dmitri Kasterine, Peter Stark, Reginald Gray and more.
