Two Francis Bacon works are currently on display at the Fondation Luis Vuitton, featuring in the exhibition 'Keys to a passion', which runs until July 6. Bacon's Study from the Human Body (1949) and Study for Portrait (1949), are displayed in the first sequence of the exhibition; 'Subjective Expressionism'. Here Francis Bacon joins Kazimir Malevich, Edvard Munch, Alberto Giacometti, Otto Dix and Helen Schjerbeck in evoking questions about life, death, anguish and solitude. Fondation Luis Vuitton features insight on Bacon's Study for Portrait here. The artwork features trademarks of Bacon's brushstrokes; a cage entombs the subject, who's wide, gaping mouth is an eye drawing chasm in the piece. The Fondation Luis Vuitton also provide their own biography on Francis Bacon. The Fondation Luis Vuitton show sees Francis Bacon's works line up with pieces from Caude Monet, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and many more. A full list of artworks on display is available to view here. 'Keys to a passion' is currently running now through to July 6, for more information please visit the exhibition site.
