From today, Francis Bacon's Reclining Woman (1961), and Study of a Dog (1952), are on display alongside Tracey Emin's installation; My Bed (1998), in the new Tate Britain display; 'BP Spotlight: Tracy Emin and Francis Bacon'. Emin's My Bed installation returns to the Tate Britain after it first came to public attention when shown in the 1999 Turner Prize exhibition. It is joined by six recent figure drawings by Emin, and two Francis Bacon works selected by Emin herself. In an interview with the Tate Tracey Emin explains why she selected two Francis Bacon works to be displayed with her My Bed installation:
'I said I’d like to show it with Bacon, because I thought there would be a really good dialogue between the intensity and anger in his work and the way the bed has this sense of collapse and seems completely forlorn. And there’s also this kind of debauchery and craziness going on between both artists, but done in a completely different way.' - Tracy Emin
