Claude Bernard and Nadine Haim

Claude Bernard Haim acted as Bacon’s dealer in the 1970s and held a number of exhibitions at Galerie Claude Bernard in Paris. His sister, Nadine Haim, also became a close friend of Bacon’s and frequently accompanied Bacon on his forays into the Parisian nightlife. Bacon loved Paris and was a frequent visitor to the city. From 1974 onwards, he kept an apartment at 14 rue de Birague near the Place des Vosges. After his exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1971, he exhibited at three other Parisian galleries—Galerie Maeght, Galerie Lelong and Galerie Claude Bernard. Many leading writers including Michel Leiris and Jacques Dupin wrote catalogue essays for these shows.
